What police said in court
At a Sep 25, 2026 preliminary hearing in Jackson Municipal Court for one of the men charged in Tasia Fortune's death, a Jackson police detective testified that investigators believe she was killed at another location and the scene was staged. He pointed to a possible dispute over missing drugs, and said she may have been dead two to three days before she was found.
The same day, a third man turned himself in and is charged with murder; his first court appearance is set for Sep 28. Three men are now charged with murder.
