The Olney house missing women: what we know
Seven women, reported missing in Philadelphia between 2012 and 2023, are now linked by police and the FBI to a single house on West Chew Avenue in the city's Olney neighborhood. Police say they fear several of the women are dead. No bodies have been recovered, and no one has been charged in any of their deaths. This is what officials have confirmed on the record, what they say they don't know yet, and what happens next.

What's confirmed
- 2012–2023Gabrielle Amarando (missing since 2012), Amy McHale (2016), Maribel Fresses (2018), Nicole Fusaro (2018) and Blair Tonzelli (2023) are reported missing. Police have linked two more women to the case but have not named them publicly. One family asked that their daughter not be named. NBC News; The Philadelphia Inquirer; 6abc
- June 2026A federal park ranger stops a car parked illegally near Independence Mall. Police say a woman inside handed over an ID bearing Blair Tonzelli's name. NBC News; WHYY; Billy Penn
- The driver is in federal custody on gun and fake-law-enforcement-credential charges. He has not been charged in connection with any of the missing women. WHYY; Billy Penn; NBC News
- Investigators then searched the West Chew Avenue house. A man who lived there died in 2025. Police describe him as a filmmaker and photographer. He was never charged with a crime. NBC News; CBS News; Billy Penn
- Sept. 16, 2026Police and the FBI say more than 1 million digital files were recovered from the house. About 30% have been reviewed and 58 people identified so far. Some images appear to show women injured, unconscious, or lifeless. NBC News; CBS News; The Philadelphia Inquirer; WHYY
What we don't know / what's disputed
- No bodies have been recovered. Without remains, the medical examiner cannot issue a death certificate. Police say the medical examiner's view depends on the images being real and unaltered. CBS Philadelphia; 6abc

- Outlets have reported different counts of how many women police believe are dead, so we don't report a number.
- About 70% of the evidence has not been reviewed yet.

What happens next
