Duane "Keffe D" Davis, 63, was convicted on August 31, 2026 of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon in the 1996 Las Vegas killing of Tupac Shakur, nearly thirty years after the shooting. His nickname is also widely spelled "Keefe D." He was never accused of pulling the trigger. The case rested largely on his own words: a protected 2008 "proffer" interview with detectives, a 2018 BET docuseries, and his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend. This episode is about how the protection that kept those words out of court stopped applying once he told the story in public.
